Below are 21 romantic movies worth streaming this Feb. 14, or whenever you might feel mushy.
Always Be My Maybe
Ali Wong and Randall Park play childhood sweethearts who reconnect after 15 years apart in this likable Netflix rom-com, featuring a hilarious A-list cameo we dare not spoil.
Carol
Did you like “May December,” also directed by Todd Haynes? You might dig his adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s book about an aspiring photographer (Rooney Mara) who develops an intimate relationship with an older woman (Cate Blanchett) in 1950s New York.
Endless Love
A privileged girl (Gabriella Wilde) and a charismatic boy (Alex Pettyfer) whose instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart. Be warned. This is the 2014 version, not 1981.
The Holiday
Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet play women troubled with guy-problems who swap homes in each other’s countries, where they each meet a local guy and fall in love. Jude Law and Jack Black also star in Nancy Meyers’ widely adored comedy, typically rotated during the winter holidays. But toss out the calendar and enjoy.
It Could Happen to You
This delightful romantic comedy sees Nicolas Cage as a New York cop who promises to share his lottery ticket with a waitress (Bridget Fonda) in lieu of a tip. When he hits the winner and follows through, things get complicated. Sweet, Capra-esque NYC fairytale.
It’s Complicated
When attending their son’s college graduation, a couple reignite the spark in their relationship, but they’re divorced and he’s remarried. Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin star in this Nancy Meyers film.
The Kissing Booth
Joey King stars as a high school student who is forced to confront her secret crush at a kissing booth. Most people’s introduction to “Euphoria” and “Saltburn” star Jacob Elordi.
Mamma Mia!
The story of a bride-to-be (Amanda Seyfried) trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular 1970s group ABBA. Meryl Streep co-stars in this 2008 hit based on the Broadway musical.
No Hard Feelings
Jennifer Lawrence stars as an unlucky woman who finds a job listing in which helicopter parents are looking for someone to bring their introverted 19-year-old son out of his shell before college. She takes the gig, and hijinks ensue.
Phantom Thread
In 1950s London, a renowned dressmaker’s life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman who becomes his muse and lover. Daniel Day-Lewis and Vicky Krieps star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s gripping (and often very funny) romantic drama.
Set It Up
Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch star as two corporate executive assistants hatch a plan to match-make their two bosses.
She’s All That
A high school jock (Freddie Prinze Jr.) makes a bet that he can turn an “unattractive” girl (Rachel Leigh Cook) into the school’s prom queen. Popular late ‘90s flick that reinforces a wild stereotype that glasses make a person unattractive.
She’s the Man
When her brother decides to ditch for a couple weeks, a girl (Amanda Bynes) heads over to his elite boarding school, disguised as him, and proceeds to fall for his school’s star soccer player (Channing Tatum). Harmless take on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”
Sixteen Candles
A girl’s “sweet” 16th birthday becomes anything but special, as she suffers from every embarrassment possible. From the late great John Hughes, this comedy stars Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall.
Something’s Gotta Give
A playboy with an affinity for younger women falls for an accomplished author closer to his age. Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton share wonderful chemistry in Nancy Meyers’ rom-com.
Silver Linings Playbook
After a stint in a mental institution, a man (Bradley Cooper) moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife while meeting a mysterious girl (Jennifer Lawrence) who upends those plans. Uplifting romantic comedy from director David O. Russell (“The Fighter”).
13 Going on 30
A girl makes a wish on her 13th birthday and wakes up the next day as a 30-year-old woman. People sometimes reduce this to “It’s basically ‘Big’ for girls,” and that may be true in some respects, but it has a huge cult following and serious re-watch value. Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo co-star.
This is 40
Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann reprise their “Knocked Up” roles as a married couple trying to keep their lives, finances and families together as they cross a milestone age together. All-star cast also includes Albert Brooks, John Lithgow, Megan Fox and Jason Segel.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Lana Condor stars as a teenage girl whose secret love letters are exposed and wreak havoc on her love life. You can also stream the sequels.
The Vow
A car accident puts a woman (Rachel McAdams) in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband (Channing Tatum) works to win her heart again.
A Walk to Remember
Grab a tissue. Mandy Moore and Shane West starred in this adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel about two North Carolina teens who form a romance after the guy gets into trouble and is made to do community service.
